I was born in Sacramento, California, USA in 1949. My parents were George H Hendricks, an electrician and Beatrice (Brundage) Hendricks, a high school Civics and History teacher at El Camino High School. I have two sisters, Ann and Paula. I attended Mariemont Elementary School from Kindergarten through 6th grade. I attended Arden School for Junior High (7th & 8th grades). I attended and graduated from Rio American High School in Sacramento, California.
After High School, I went on a three month tour of Germany and Austria before starting at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, USA. When I started I had the intention of becoming a German major. However, due to the influence of my high school English teacher (and close friend of my mother) Jean Molton and Professor Loren Gruber, PhD, I found my true love of the English language, it nuances, the written word, and what all of that represented. I ended up graduating from Simpson with a BA in English and a major in American Studies, with minors in US History, Linguistics, and Social Anthropology. These areas all helped to forge the author that I have become.
In 1975, I married Lynda Sheree Sellnow. After I had started a career in banking and finance. We have two Children Renee and Michael. We enjoy four grandchildren, Madison, Scott, Lauren and Jennifer. In 1977 we visited Lynda's parents who had moved to South Dakota. We didn't care for the gang and drug climate in California and having a new born, we moved to South Dakota, where we have remained.
Scott,
ReplyDeleteOur tour of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland in 1967 was an experience of which I have often thought. My wife, Eleanor, and I congratulate you on your published novels and are happy with your status of being a husband and grandfather.
Your reasons for moving from Sacramento are based upon facts that are confirmed regularly. We have been fortunate to live in the foothills.
It would be great to talk with you again. Our number is 530-878-0464.
The best to your success for your next novel!
David Dickson [and Eleanor]
